Katie Vega Schmidt

Katie Vega Schmidt joined Jackson Thornton’s Audit line of business in 2013 and specializes in Governmental and Education audits. She is also the firm’s Single Audits champion and participates in JT’s Inspection and Review engagements.

Schmidt has served as a River Region United Way Loaned Executive, and as a board member of Eat South and the Capri Theatre. She also served as Jackson Thornton Young Professionals’ (JTYP) Secretary/Treasurer, Social Media Chair and the Spring Event Chair. Schmidt completed RSM’s Breakthrough Leaders Institute program in 2021.

She holds professional membership in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants. Schmidt completed her undergraduate degree at Huntingdon University, with a double major in Accounting and Business Administration.
