Jackson Thornton Principal Receives Woman to Watch AwardMay 1, 2012
Renee B. Hubbard, Principal at Jackson Thornton, was recently recognized by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Alabama Society of CPAs as an Experienced Leader among Alabama’s female CPAs. The award was presented on May 10 at the 4th Annual Women’s Summit at the Wynfrey Hotel in Birmingham, Alabama.
Hubbard, a graduate of Auburn University, has more than 26 years of tax and accounting experience. She is currently Chair Elect of the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants (ASCPA) and serves on the ASCPA Federal Taxation Committee and State Taxation Committee. She is a past recipient of the Extraordinary Service Award from the ASCPA. In addition, Hubbard is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Montgomery Estate Planning Council.
“For the last eighteen years, I have worked directly with Renee on a daily basis. Renee is a forward-thinking professional with a focus on the big picture, but an eye for the details. As I reviewed the qualifications for the award, I knew that Renee is the 2012 Woman to Watch -Experienced Leader,” wrote Lyvonnia Poppell, a Principal with Jackson Thornton, in her nomination of Hubbard.
The awards are given in two categories: Emerging Leaders and Experienced Leaders. Emerging Leaders are those women who are up-and-coming stars in their organizations, while Experienced Leaders are those who have established their roles as leaders in their organizations by advancing to the highest levels of management or ownership, and by mentoring those following in their footsteps. The criteria for the Experienced Leader category includes: authorship of articles; major or unique contributions to the profession; public and/or community service; mentoring other professionals; and improvements to the workplace.
